The Intracoastal Dental Study Club is designated as an Approved PACE Program Provider by the Academy of General Dentistry. The formal continuing dental education programs of this program provider are accepted by the AGD for Fellowship, Mastership and membership maintenance credit. Approval does not imply acceptance by a state or provincial board of dentistry or AGD endorsement. The current term of approval extends from 08/19/2010 to 08/18/2013. Kirk Behrendt

Kirk Behrendt is a practice performance coach, international speaker and author. Kirk has invested his entire professional life studying the elite practices in dentistry and the leadership that guides them. As the founder of ACT, his vision is driven by the commitment to provide highly personalized care to the dental profession. By creating a talented team of experts, Kirk and his team continue to positively impact the practice of dentistry one practice at a time. His personal mission is to use up every ounce of his potential. Kirk lectures all over the world to help individuals take control of their own lives. Dentistry Today recently recognized Kirk as one of the Leaders in Dental Consulting in 2011 & 2012. Dr. Peter Dawson called him “The best motivator I have ever heard.” Kirk has competed internationally in 4 Ironman Triathlons and 9 Half-Iron Triathlons. He currently trains with some of the best triathletes competing in the world today. His feeling is that there is no greater parallel to optimal business performance than optimal athletic performance.

Dr. Stephen Chu

“Esthetic Determinants For Teeth and Implants”

Dr. Stephen Chu is an Associate Professor in the Department of Prosthodontics, Director of Aesthetic Education at Colombia University College of Dental Medicine. He also maintains a private practice in fixed prosthodontics in New York City. Dr. Chu is a chapter contributor to The Science and Art of Porcelain Laminate Veneers and has published 23 articles and given over 100 lectures nationally and internationally on the subjects of aesthetic, restorative, and implant dentistry. He has co-authored The Fundamentals of Color: Shade Matching and Communications in Esthetic Dentistry and Aesthetic Restorative Dentistry: Principles and Practice. Dr. Chu is Prosthodontics Section Editor of Practical Procedures and Aesthetic Dentistry, and is on the editorial review board of the European Journal of Esthetic Dentistry, IJOMI, Compendium, Journal of Esthetic and Restorative Dentistry. Dr. Chu is the creator of Chu’s Aesthetic Gauges manufactured by Hu-Friedy Co., Inc.

“Beyond Dental Treatments”

Dr. Raul Cook earned his dental degree from CES University, Colombia, in 1994. In 1998 he achieved a Masters in Public Health at the CES University as well. He completed a 3-year Masters of Dentistry Program in Periodontics at Saint Louis University in 2008. Dr. Cook, during his Master program, was a Clinical Instructor for the undergraduate medical-dental students from Southern Illinois University. In 2001, he worked as an Assistant Faculty at the College of Dentistry at University of Illinois at Chicago. Dr. Cook worked as a general dentist for several years and worked with different international health organizations such, as World Health Organization, developing health programs in Colombia

Dr. Barry Kligerman graduated from Colby College (1962-1966), a small New England School with 1,000 students in Waterville, Maine, where he was a Senior Scholar and a member of the Executive Committee of the Student Government. He attended Tufts University School of Dental Medicine (1966-1970) where he served as Vice President of his class for two years. He earned his degree as a Periodontist while completing a simultaneous Masters of Science degree.

Paul Fugazzotto, D.D.S.

“Comprehensive Care in Private Practice: Reality or Myth?”


Dr. Paul Fugazzotto received his D.D.S. from New York University in 1979 and his Certificate in Periodontology from Boston University in 1981. Dr. Fugazzotto has published over 85 articles in referred Journals; textbooks entitled Preparation of the Periodontium for Restorative Dentistry, Implant and Regenerative Therapies: A Guide to Decision Making and Periodontal-Restorative Interrelationships: Ensuring Clinical Success; numerous textbook chapters; and a monograph entitled Guided Tissue Regeneration; Maximizing Clinical Results. Dr. Fugazzotto lectures on a regular basis nationally and internationally on the topics of interdisciplinary care, Periodontics, implants, and regenerative therapy, esthetics and practice growth. He is a Fellow with the International Team of Oral Implantology, editor in chief of Implant Realities, and US ITI Study Club Coordinator.

Farokh Jiveh, D.D.S.

“Why Patients Sue Their Dentists”

Stuart F. Cohen, Esq. attended the University of Miami where he earned a Bachelors of Business Administration with a major in finance in 1990. He then attended the University of Miami School of Law where he earned his Juris Doctor in 1993. Mr. Cohen is a trial lawyer who practices in all areas of tort and insurance law, including professional and medical negligence, auto and premises liability, product liability, insurance coverage and bad faith. Since his admission to the Florida Bar in 1993, Mr. Cohen has litigated and tried cases throughout Florida. He is admitted to practice before all Florida courts, the United States District Court for the Southern District of Florida and the United States District Court for the Middle District of Florida. Mr. Cohen has been awarded an AV® rating with Martindale-Hubbell Law Directory. The Law Directory establishes this rating by anonymously querying members of the Bar and Judiciary. Mr. Cohen's AV® rating signifies he has been recognized by his peers and the judges before whom he has appeared for the highest levels of skill and integrity. In 2012, Mr. Cohen was invited by his peers to membership in the American Board of Trial Advocates (ABOTA).
